Emhoff: “I must be direct. This is hard, this is raw. I'm gutted. “I stand before you as the first Second Gentleman and the first Jewish principal ever in the White House. But in this moment, I'm here as a fellow congregate, fellow mourner and as a Jew connected to all of you.”

Meta's Oversight Board, which handles content-moderation disputes on FB and IG, weighs in on the contentious "From the River to the Sea" debate. The Board finds the phrase often has antisemitic connotations — but OKs its use in most posts jewishinsider.com/2024/09/metas-…

"This is the [tunnel] shaft that led to the place where the six hostages were murdered. In a children's room, among paintings of Snow White and Mickey Mouse." Rare look into Hamas's embedding itself into civilian infrastructure:

Portland, ME city council voted *unanimously* to divest from 80+ companies doing business in Israel — including Volvo, Chevron and Boeing. Portland is the biggest city in Maine. (Only 68,000 people, but still.) pressherald.com/2024/09/04/por…

A revealing quote from Portland's mayor shows why local officials think they should weigh in on Israel: "I can appreciate the desire for retribution ... I think our role collectively is to grab their shoulder & say, ‘It’s enough, it’s simply enough,’ & pull them away."

These are text messages, exactly as they were written and sent, between a mother and her two daughters during yesterday’s shooting at Apalachee High School. The family shared the texts with The Washington Post. Both daughters were unharmed and now safe.

These protesters target Dana at her home and this event because she’s Jewish. There is nothing about her coverage of the Israel-Hamas war that is different from most other news coverage, covering both Jewish/Israeli and Palestinian pain. This harassment is antisemitism.

Smart story: "How did her views change in five years, from liberal to centrist on health care, immigration and energy? Why should voters believe her new views are the ones she'd stick with inside the White House?"

Gabby Deutch (@gsdeutch) 's Twitter Profile Photo

I think this argument is besides the point. Yes, Dana Bash is a top-tier journalist who has done hard-hitting work since 10/7. But that shouldn't be relevant; hateful protesters aren't targeting her because they (mistakenly) think she's weak on Bibi. It's because she's Jewish.
