Back when I had a proper job as a product designer we often specified soft-touch spray finish on plastic parts as it made them feel much nicer and also meant we didn’t have to add a finish to the mould. Almost 20 years ago we didn’t know how it would degrade. I’m so sorry.

This behavior may be surprising to us, but remember humans are fairy unique in having continuous concealed ovulation, whilst many creatures signal ability to mate in estrous through public displays of fertility, using such things as engorgement. Hope that helps, this is normal!
