Our VSCP members **Chris Tuck MAAT ACMA CGMA** and May Baxter-Thornton begin our first session and ask delegates to share their views on what the term ‘lived experience’ means to them
.**Chris Tuck MAAT ACMA CGMA** and May Baxter-Thornton discuss giving survivors ‘a meaningful seat at the table’. May says “There is a stigma [around victims of child sexual abuse] we need to demolish. We can‘t do it as individuals, it‘s a collective effort of everyone in this room"
Speakers Lucy Duckworth and Fay Maxted of The Survivors Trust discuss ‘trauma-informed’ organisations, looking at maternity and health. Fay says "Being trauma informed means understanding, recognising, and responding to the effects of trauma, not the trauma itself"
.**Chris Tuck MAAT ACMA CGMA** and Sheila Coates spoke to delegates on the importance of language with regards to child sexual abuse. Sheila said "Using the wrong language silences survivors - adults and children.”
Our Chair, Simon Bailey has commented on the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) report into how AI is being used to facilitate online child sexual abuse.
