Britain is a place where MPs on £91,000 a year who get their heating costs in their second homes paid by the taxpayer will vote on Tuesday to remove the winter fuel allowance from pensioners on £13,000 a year.

Streeting says Labour wants to use the spare capacity in the private healthcare sector He knows theres no spare capacity - its taken from the NHS. What Lab should do is build NHS capacity, not divert tax payers cash to the private sector to deliberately undermine the NHS further

How dare Laura Kuenssberg try and claim that the winter fuel allowance is cut by giving NHS workers a fair pay rise. How. Dare. You. Trying to turn Doctor against pensioner. Trying to turn patient against nurse. Trying to cause division. All complete lies. #BBCLauraK

I explained my position on Winter Fuel Allowance on LBC this morning. I remain in hope Ministers will come forward with an alternative to protect my constituents, who will suffer badly from this change of policy. If not I can’t in all conscience do anything else but vote against.

Rachel Reeves own words expose herself as having made political choices. She has chosen to take the winter fuel allowance from 10 million pensioners to protect the interests of business, banks and the super rich. She’s a raving tory.

James Foster Wes Streeting MP Should never have been reelected in the first place - Green Party candidate should have stood down for the greater good 🤦 Streeting >>> £29,160 accepted from the Israel Lobby to date.

I'm no economist, but if cutting winter fuel payment saves £1.4BN a year, and the energy companies are raking in over £1BN a week in profits, maybe an 'easier decision' would be to TAX THE PROFITS OF THE F*CKING ENERGY COMPANIES to cover the cost, rather than freeze pensioners?!

Of all the 'hills to die on' why has Starmer picked winter fuel allowance? Utter political madness or naivety and down right cruel to a million plus struggling pensioners. theguardian.com/politics/artic…

Susanna Reid points out that in 2017 Lab fought proposals to scrap the universal winter fuel allowance Up until 2015 the Labour right wanted to scrap it, & when Corbyn came in (who opposed scrapping it) they spent years destroying him so they could return to policies like this
