Latest research for A Round of Scottish Golf Courses - a wonderful wee book from 1928 & a 1970 book that mentions Corrie as “9 hole course at Sannox, the last in a superb setting of towering peaks.” The only mention of golf, but interesting that Corrie got the added description.

The 9th at Royal County Down, painted by Harry Rountree, in The Golf Courses of the British Isles (1910) by Bernard Darwin. The site of this week’s Amgen Irish Open . Darwin called it “one of the very pleasantest places for golf in all Ireland”

Dad & his caddy on the 3rd at RCD, 2007. Looking back at Ireland photos, pre-iphone, when I took cameras on these trips. We spent 3 days in Newcastle. Excited to watch the Irish Open. I’d love to see The Open played here.

I’m interested in watching the Solheim Cup, but it’s a shame we can’t watch Royal County Down too. It might be the best course in the world & it’s so rare to see a tournament held at a great course.

This makes me so happy to see. Walking Prestwick Golf Club with Chris over the years has been a highlight of my golfing life. His knowledge of golf and that course is amazing.

This score is so good with hickory clubs & a gutta percha ball. The 12 hole course at Prestwick was/is difficult. The green for the Station hole was just over this bunker on the 15th hole today, from behind the 18th tee.
