This reeks of punishing the victims. The federal prison system utterly failed to protect women in FCI Dublin from abuse for many years. Then, after the crimes by its staff were exposed, the feds shut the prison and shipped the detainees off with virtually no notice.

I hope one of the lessons everyone’s taking away from watching how these police officers handle student protests is that police brutality isn’t just the murders you see, but the routine daily violence police use on civilians to do something as simple as conduct arrests.

Colleges cannot arrest their way out of this moment.
