Hard for me to support someone with no values, lies, cheats, rapes, demeans women, hates immigrants like me. He may cut my taxes or reduce some regulation but that is no reason to accept depravity in his personal values. Do you want President who will set back climate by a

Low-cost H2 storage, and low-cost and efficient H2-to-electricity conversion, may be key to cost reduction in reliable wind-and-solar-reliant electricity systems. When a study supports the priors of reviewers, they are uncritical of methods. When a study goes against the priors of reviewers, they think, "something must be very wrong with these methods", and criticize in detail. This is just human nature, unfortunate, but not nefarious.

A nice lecture on motif's from Wagner's Ring Cycle by Thomas Guggeis. Sponsored by the Wagner Society of Santa Fe. youtube.com/watch?v=0WlW0g… (One of my hobbies is recording acoustic performances.)

Special thanks to Ken Caldeira for delivering our keynote talk on macro-energy modeling — putting a bow on our sessions on energy conversion, storage, and justice with a bird's eye perspective that is sure to spark new ideas and connections!

Remote islands and villages dependent on oil/diesel for electricity generation can eliminate CO2 emissions and save money with a net-zero electricity system built on wind and solar with storage. #climate #energy authors.elsevier.com/c/1jZ9f15eifC6…

To what extent do we create hydrogen hubs as opportunities for innovation, bringing down the long-term costs of emissions abatement? And to what extent do we create hydrogen hubs to reduce GHG emissions in the near term? Alex Trembath discusses.

We are organizing a meeting on what could go wrong, from a physical science perspective, if stratospheric aerosol geoengineering were ever deployed. If you have suggestions for who to invite to such a meeting, please email or DM me (or mention in a reply).

Are the recent hot years a sign of accelerating warming, or anomalous increases imposed on a general warming trend? Projections of warming under current policy suggest the most rapid warming is behind us (but most of the climate damage in front of us). iopscience.iop.org/article/10.108…

Parts of Earth's jet stream have shifted toward the poles over the past several decades, likely in response to climate change. This was long forecast to happen, but has only now "emerged from the noise" says Thomas Keel UCL Geography. New in @NewScientist: newscientist.com/article/244687…

Reliable wind-and-solar-based electricity systems need to be designed taking more years of weather data into account than is now common practice, because weather is quite variable even at continental scale.
