Third graders read closely with their literacy partner to build background knowledge about a topic. They wrote great thinking from their discussion on the author’s note. They imagined how they would feel in the character’s shoes and used evidence support their thinking.

Day 1 using white boards to capture highlights of their discussion in ELA! I absolutely loved being able to look around the room and see all the amazing thinking focused on the learning target while they were budddy reading today.

A great student noticed vocabulary words from the book wishtree we read as a class.

I’m grateful that I have amazing mini math coaches that can lead the learning, ask thoughtful questions during random groups and inspire student thinking when I am losing my voice. The students were actively engaged today. I just jumped in during the lesson synthesis.

One Word 2024

A very special tradition. Each student is going home with 20 compliments and shoutouts of how they make our classroom a better and brighter place to be. 💜

It is so nice to see readers and writers from all grade levels excited to add to our Beautiful Language Wall! It might be something they wrote that has symbolism, creates strong imagey or figurative language. It can even be a powerful line from a book they are reading.
