Contemporary TAVI reduces death by more than half at 1 year.

And patients vastly prefer it.

The burden of proof is on surgical valves to outperform TAVI in the long term, not the other way round.

My opinion on the use of MCS has been the following since #NCSI
1. Routine use in AMI-CS (routine doesn’t mean 100%)
2. Selective use in HF-CS
3. Highly selective use in HR-PCI
4. Limited to no role in AMI w/o shock (I have never placed an MCS to “prevent” CS).

My personal take to the new board based on what we know now:

👍direct response to ABIM charging high fees, perceived double dipping, lack of accountability (tone deaf), overreach (choosing wisely and other irrelevant campaigns to mission of certification), changing rules
