Election Security never takes a summer vacation; but Ballot & his friends do! Pack up your sleeping bag and join us for a camping trip this week to learn how New York’s voting technology is tested to ensure accurate and fair elections.

Rise and shine, Campers!! As the bugle plays and the sun rises, we’d like to provide this basic introduction to what exactly Logic & Accuracy testing is. There’s fresh coffee in the mess hall if you are still feeling a bit sleepy.

As the day begins and the sun begins to bear down, many campers elect to visit the watering hole to do some fishing or take a dip, all while learning how our voting machine testing protocols work

The Precinct and Central Count Scanners Testing Process can be a bit tricky to navigate. Luckily, our younger scouts have Otto the Owl to guide them. “Who?” you may ask. And if so, congratulations on speaking Otto’s native language. You have now earned the “Dad Joke” scout badge.

These campers enjoy the plant life around camp and appreciate the camp’s accessibility to all. Ballot Marking Devices (BMDs) are electronic devices that allow voters to mark their ballot privately and independently to ensure voting is accessible to all.

This deep in the woods, our campers must rely on their wits, instincts, and *gasp* paper maps to navigate their journey, because just like the Tabulation Systems used by County Boards of Elections across New York State, our campers are NOT connected to the internet!

As the moon rises and our campers sit by the campfire to make s’mores, they tell “ghost stories” about elections run on equipment that failed L&A testing. But don’t worry New Yorkers, all of the tech you vote on has passed the testing. Your elections are safe and secure!
