And end the overall benefit cap, bring back a national council tax benefit, abolish work capability test and waiting period for universal credit plus regulated rents.

On top of all the other misery Harrow Council is consulting on making its council tax reduction scheme worse. It is definitely not the thing to do at a time when people are struggling with the cost of basics such as heating, food and rent. More on this later.

One thing to remember is when your MP asks you to sign their latest petition it is usually done not for any altruistic reason on their part but as a data harvesting exercise so they have your contact details come election time

It always strikes me when there is a debate about social security how little most know about a system all of us will rely on at some point in our lives. Its why successive governments have been able to erode and destroy the protections that should be there for us when we need it

What utter rubbish. The only thing you are fixing is for the rich to get richer, the rest of us to get poorer and an even greater rise of the far right in any future elections.

We really need MPs to be forced to take the oath ‘Do no harm’.

There is always a choice. The major problem we have is that we have a government comprised of the completely talentless. With no ideas, no politics, no principles. In power solely because the Tories imploded. How long before Starmer’s party follows suit?

It was not a difficult decision for Starmer’s Government. It barely gave a thought to making poor pensioners even poorer. It couldn’t even be asked to consult, do an impact assessment or refer to the Social Security Advisory Committee such was its zeal to do this.

Six of the dead are said to be children. Our Government can stop more deaths by offering safe routes. It chooses not to do so.
