We are happy to share that Dr. Ryan Post has received a grant from the Rhode Island Foundation Medical Research Fund. He plans to dissect the neural circuits that contribute to motivated behavior, to improve our understanding of how such circuits may be impacted in depression.

The Summer Writing Retreat is in full swing! Hosted by The Writing Center and SPaRC, a dozen faculty are currently hard at work on their scholarship.

Yesterday SPaRC, CFR and Financial Services got together for our 2nd annual Grants Team Retreat. We had a full day of collaboration, problem-solving, reflection, celebration, exploration, and recharging. We were treated to quick tours of some lab facilities in the afternoon.

At the NIH over the next two days presenting on building research capacity for NIH SURE R16 Eligible Institutions.

Krishan Oberoi, assistant professor of music, traveled to Japan for his project funded by the Marion and Jasper Whiting Foundation. Pianist Yui Narata helped him get familiar with Tokyo's cultural landscape. The shrine is from Kyoto, and the Bunraku picture is from Osaka.

Departments across the College’s three Schools were represented at the statewide SURS conference.

With support of the Marion and Jasper Whiting Foundation, Lynne Ryan traveled to Finland in March examining models for preparing teacher candidates. She visited Tampere University, and met key administrators at the Intercultural Teacher Education Program at University of Oulu.
