Did you know PMI supports those working across the health system, including CHWs, lab techs, and supply chain logisticians? PMI is supporting partner countries to increasingly take on all aspects of malaria prevention & treatment.

Over the last 3 years, PMI has tripled the share of funding that goes to local organizations in its partner countries. We still have a long way to go but we are making progress by working hand-in-hand with local organizations to help end malaria.

SUCCESS: After 15 years of working with partners in Zanzibar, PMI fully transitioned spraying campaigns to the Ministry of Health in 2022. The Ministry now fully manages the campaigns that spray the walls of homes to protect families from malaria-carrying mosquitoes.

Africa is home to 94% of the world’s malaria cases but only produces a small fraction of the supplies needed to prevent, test, and treat malaria. That’s why PMI is working to accelerate the growth of regional manufacturing.

Community health workers are essential partners in the detection & treatment of malaria, especially in remote areas. Last year, PMI funded over 260,000 trainings to equip health workers with the knowledge and resources needed to protect their communities from malaria.
