Academic boycotts are ok for academic freedom, as long as they are not enforced and every individual is free to participate or not on their own terms? This statement is a mess. Must have been an internal clash between Movement vanguard & defenders of meaningful academic freedom.

Are you a professor? If so, consider signing the petition against the American Association of University Professors' recent about-face, in which they cravenly declare that academic boycotts are OK after all. docs.google.com/document/d/e/2…

What a debacle for American Association of University Professors. It is simply good to do an important thing reliably and well, even if it's a limited thing. Giving that up to join a cosmic struggle you can't actually affect is probably not a good idea.
