I wrote about the restored version of Fran Rubel Kuzui's 1988 Tokyo Pop, opening in Seattle tonight at The Beacon Cinema (also plays Monday). From the director of the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Seattle Film Critics on Bluesky w/same handle

August’s “Unforgettables” entry is now live at the SGN: Seattle Gay News. This month we’re riding the range with 1993’s THE BALLAD OF LITTLE JO. Challenging film with a complex legacy, Maggie Greenwald’s revisionist Western means a lot to me.

Review: Neill Blomkamp's Gran Turismo focuses on racing scenes rather than a deeper story. It still manages to be a heartwarming fun time at the movies #granturismo thepeoplescriticblog.com/2023/08/25/rev…

I wrote about Hong Sang-soo's The Novelist's Film, among the finest of his more recent work. The black and white suits him, and it's great to see Hong working with women of a certain age, especially the excellent Lee Hye-yeong. Seattle Film Critics on Bluesky w/same handle
