Honored to meet w/ South Korean President 윤석열 Yoon Suk Yeol in Seoul today to discuss global & regional security issues & progress on economic cooperation. The U.S. will continue to work closely w/ ROK to promote peace & stability & keep Indo-Pacific free, open, & secure.

Toured the Joint Security Area/DMZ looking into North Korea & received briefings from our military leaders here. The “Bridge of No Return” is a stark reminder of the bravery our servicemembers showcase every day standing shoulder to shoulder w/ our allies in ROK.

In South Korea, I attended a wreath laying ceremony to pay tribute to the brave servicemembers from Rhode Island who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Korean War. We will be forever grateful for their courageous service & selfless sacrifice in defense of freedom.

Saddened to hear of the passing of Victor Butler, a proud RIer & WWII veteran who served w/ the trailblazing Tuskegee Airmen. I had the honor of meeting Victor & his wife Senora in May 2022 to celebrate his 100th bday & thank him for his valiant service.
