On a more serious note, amazing to see my History A-level teacher, Paul Holborow on Novara Media. He is a brilliant, ten-toes down, dedicated anti-racist. He co-founded the Anti-Nazi League. Good to see that Paul remains as sharp, commited and healthy today as he was in '01
Very happy that the first publication from my oral history project on legal solidarity & the 1984-85 #MinersStrike will feature in the next issue of Oral History (v 52 n 2). I've also written this blog post for Oral History Society to introduce the research: ohs.org.uk/ohj-online/whi…
This book, A People's History of the Anti Nazi League, is urgently needed. Best wishes to Geoff Brown both organising against the fascists right now and finishing off this hugely important book.
Roxy Legane Makes me think of how Claudia Jones founded Notting Hill carnival after 1950s race riots and split the proceeds to pay off the fines of both black and white youth who were nicked.
Join Dr Joanna Gilmore, Lord John Kendy KC, Janet Allan and Jane Deighton this September for a free panel discussion exploring the role of lawyers and legal solidarity groups during the 1984-85 Miners’ Strike in Britain. Free tickets 👉 ncm.org.uk/whats-on/lawye… Lawyers at the Coalface
