Plateau was the first team as far as I know to hire a Brazilian coach, as seen here (1950!). Vasco Da Gama sent a coach to Nigeria in 1962, who trained Stationery Stores coach Eto Amaechina, hence the Brazilian style adopted successfully by Stores in the 1960s

#OnThisDay in 1920, former Nigeria FA treasurer Mr. Israel Adebajo was born. He founded Stationary Stores FC - Nigeria's first "professional" and oldest football club in 1958. The club attracted a lot of players across West Africa especially Ghanaians in the late 1960s and 70s.

Some notable Ghanaian players who played for Stores FC include Kofi Pare (guest player), Fred Aryee, Doodo Kotey, Audu Ibrahim, Willie Andrews just to mention few. Some of these players gained Nigerian citizenship and even played for the Super Eagles at the international stage.

Case study for saying ‘money alone maketh not a team’. Stationery Stores FC - a tale of one man’s passion/sacrifice. Israel Adebajo built a champion team through hard graft + planning. Pics. 1. 1961; 2.1966 more disappointment; 3. 1967 - champs repeated in 68. 4. 1969 -demise 🧵1

2/ The team’s dominance of Nigerian Football from 1967-1970 was the culmination of 7 years of hard work, funding and planning. Adebajo was relentless, passionate and committed to the dream of success of his baby. 1967 + 1968 saw the realisation of the dream - FA Cup champions

We are saddened by the untimely death of our illustrious player, #Ibrahim Babangida aka “IBB.” A member of our successful squad of the early to mid-1990s under Coach Abdulahi Bebe, the squad won the 1992 National League and reached the semi-final of what is now
