Along with giving something up, try something new this Lent! Like…S4 of our podcast! Powerful interview with Archbishop Gustavo to kick things off. Reflects on accompanying migrants through immense suffering, and still ends by saying,“Tell the people: here is a happy bishop!”

Thank you Bishop Mark J. Seitz for continuing to be a voice advocating for the vulnerable. The current administration continues to impose harsh border policies, preferring to keep migrants out of the country (and more importantly) out of the news, rather than making change for the better

Blessings on your Holy Week! Join us this week for our season finale, where James Martin, SJ leads Louie and me through an Ignatian Examen of our two years of border ministry. We share share stories, like when children carried the cross around the Reynosa plaza on Good Friday

5 baptisms + 4 first communions = 1 blessed day! Truly a moment of joy & celebration in the midst of a traumatic journey and an indefinite wait for those looking for safety and opportunity within our country “It was God’s plan for us to be here,” Rosa (mother of three baptized)

How amazing to see the familar face of one of our #Jesuit brothers in this group of people inspiring America! Fr. Rafael Garcia's decision to open the doors of the parish in El Paso to migrants comes from a desire to respond to the Gospel call: buff.ly/43vQ064.

I’m drawing this message from our Holy Father Pope Francis, and it’s one I find myself repeating over and over. The Eucharist is not a prize for the perfect, it’s food for the journey! Happy Solemnity of Corpus Christi 🙏

Legal immigration is *impossible* for nearly all immigrants wishing to immigrate to the U.S. legally. You can’t just “get in line.” That’s a fiction perpetuated by those who want to keep immigration illegal. My latest report explains why. Here’s the summary in 1 pic... 🧵

Blessed to be able pray with students at St Joe’s University last week and share from our ministry on the border. What we stand for starts with where we stand

For most migrants, the wait at the US-Mexico border is significantly longer than their journey to the border, even when they are coming over land from countries like Venezuela, Chile, and Brazil in South America. And that wait is often the hardest part of the journey

Thanks Jack Herrera for a deep dive into philosophy, moral theology, and border politics. I’ll never forget the day that a current and former president both visited the border on the same day and neither one spoke with a single migrant. “Come and see”- there’s two parts to that

Thanks to everyone who has followed me after the The New Yorker article by Jack Herrera highlighting our ministry. I’m grateful for all the interest it has generated. If you want to learn more, visit delcamino.org and subscribe to The Jesuit Border Podcast. Thanks!

Today I am beginning my annual silent retreat, which is always a blessed time of prayer and reflection. Keep me in your prayers, as I hold you in mine. Fittingly, today is my entrance anniversary. 13 years ago on this day, I entered the Jesuit novitiate. Thanks be to God!

I’m grateful for my vocation as a Jesuit and for the opportunity to accompany migrants on the US-Mexico border. Not because it’s easy, but because I encounter Christ every single day

If you read the The New Yorker article highlighting our ministry, you’ll be fascinated with this episode of the #AMDG podcast, a behind the scenes interview with author Jack Herrera , who talks about what inspired the article, what most surprised him, and what stories were left out…

Let’s recall that 2/3 of undocumented workers in the US (5M people) were classified as “essential workers” during the pandemic. They work as farmworkers & food processors, deliver home healthcare services, clean medical facilities, build homes and hospitals. Many have work today
