When we treat car crashes as a problem of dangerous drivers rather than a problem of dangerous road systems we can and must fix, it is dangerously easy to vilify everyone who shares an identity with those drivers. This father was so damn brave to speak out.

In St. Louis, our streets have historically been designed in ways that are dangerous, bad for our health, harmful to the environment, and disruptive to our neighborhoods. I'm happy to say we've already begun the work to reverse that and make our streets more people-friendly.

I've been on multiple 10+ mile bike rides around the city with Mayor Tishaura O. Jones. I can tell you first hand: she's committed. We're swinging for the fences when it comes to transforming St. Louis into a City where you don't need a car to get around.

We’ve talked about doing stuff like this as a city ever since I’ve lived here and it was just talk or small projects here and there but now we’re actually doing it in this admin. One thing I’d like to see the Mayor do is challenge BPS to innovate and deliver projects quicker.
