At the end of March we were lucky enough to head to Belmullet for an awareness course with #BlackSod #SeaSafari, Belmullet Tidy Towns, and Belmullet Tidal Pool staff! We brought our #LeaveNoTracePrinciples and they brought us on a tour of their hidden corner of Mayo 💙 We'll be back!

Another day monitoring for LIFE on Machair / SAOL ar an Mhacaire. Things are still quiet bee wise, but kidney vetch really doing it's thing at the moment - the few bees that are about are loving it

We encountered this heath bumblebee Bombus jonellus on Erris Head while on the loop walk yesterday. We also seen a lizard :) A truly magnificent place.

Coastal ragwort appears to be particularly important at this time of year on the Mullet Peninsula - it is not just bees using it - also butterflies, moths and hoverflies

There are an estimated 16,000 insects in Ire. Only 1 enjoys any kind of legal protection while I was only able to find one project that is focused on an insect.
