It's always sad when a CoFiRES member graduates and leaves, but they are always on to bigger and better things! Excited to hear David Gorelick's take on his first few months with S&TPolicyFellowships!
Very proud of this paper and all of the work we do with Tampa Bay Water and Water Programming. And we have a great thesis to look forward to with more TBW work this summer!
🚨PUBLISHED PAPER ALERT🚨 CoFiRES alumni Hope Thompson, HB Zeff, Rachel Kleiman, along with collaboration from Dr. Antonia Sebastian, used a novel modeling approach to determine the flood-related financial risk from Hurricane Florence to be $562M 💰🌊 sph.unc.edu/sph-news/new-u…
Great talk by Tirusew Asefa, Ph.D., P.E., BC.WRE., F.ASCE presenting our work on risk-based characterization of water supply project timing at #EWRI2023. You can find more details on this work in our recent publication by David Gorelick, Center on Financial Risk in Environmental Systems and Water Programming, here: ascelibrary.org/doi/abs/10.106…
That’s a wrap folks — saying goodbye to our 2023 CoFiRES grads. Zach defended his thesis on #WesternWater in the CO River Basin in June and Christina defended her thesis on the impact of demand management/interest rates/water prices for Tampa Bay Water today! Congrats y’all 🥳💧
Let conference season begin! Madison Haley gave a great presentation for Resilience Week on managing Central AZ Project's hydrologic financial risk, work done with David Gorelick, Rachel Kleiman and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory colleagues. Check out the conference paper tinyurl.com/cofiresResWeek
alright folks -- CoFiRES is taking #AGU23! Come check out talks and posters from Yash Amonkar, Greg, Kieran, and Rosa Cuppari. Yash kicks us off today with a talk!
Congrats to HB Zeff on his latest open access Earth's Future paper with co-authors Antonia Hadjimichael and Greg Characklis (Center on Financial Risk in Environmental Systems). agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1029/20…
Collab #3: a product of AGU (American Geophysical Union)'s #chapmanwater. I learned more than I can express by working with this truly interdisciplinary group. Thanks to Elizabeth Macpherson leading, Aurora Kagawa-Viviani, PhD for being another guiding light, and other coauthors, including Will Brewer & kaustuv Raj Neupane
my final side quest is complete, now all I have left to do is my actual dissertation work 😉lots of lessons learned from this project, which was borne out of my MS thesis. Clearly Center on Financial Risk in Environmental Systems has given me opportunities and collaborators to study far more than hydropower!
