Today, UNL-TAPS Sprinkler Corn participants are deciding whether to apply foliar insecticide for the first time in competition history. Julie Peterson and her team found ~4% of plants infested with Western Bean Cutworms after weeks of scouting West Central Research and Extension Center.
In collaboration with Julie Peterson, Milos Zaric, and University of Nebraska PAT Lab, the UNL-TAPS Sprinkler Corn insecticide application was completed this morning using West Central Research and Extension Center's new Skywalker high clearance sprayer. Eleven of the 38 teams chose to apply insecticides.

Attendees got an inside look at TAPS, competitors visited plots, and partners checked on their tech. We also showcased new equipment, interseeding cover crops for next year's competition.
