We are very sad to hear of the passing of Pieter Baas, former director of the National Herbarium of the Netherlands, at the age of 80 on 29 April 2024. Pieter had an unwavering dedication to the prosperity of systematic botany and wood anatomy, in the Netherlands and far beyond.
