Mitchell Morgan Johnson We’re really lucky to get to publish Iman Mersal’s lovely, knotty reflection on the writer Enayat al-Zayyat (an excerpt from her new book, from Transit Books), translated from the Arabic by Robin Moger. nplusonemag.com/issue-47/essay…
TONIGHT! Join me at Magers & Quinn to talk about slime molds, translator egos, and primeval forests with the fabulous Jenny Croft. We're celebrating her novel THE EXTINCTION OF IRENA REY.
Such an honor to chair the Barrios, and to rejoice in all works in translation. Congratulations to Maureen Freely & Transit Books, as well as all of our longlist & shortlist committee members without whom this wouldn't have been possible. Here's to more translations to celebrate!
Congratulations to Transit Books and Maureen Freely! Check out our conversation between Maureen, Merve Emre, and Ayesegül Savas from last year, where we partnered with Community Bookstore and Transnational Literature Series.

#NowReading • Nº 29 • SIBLINGS by Brigitte Reimann (1963, Transit Books 2022) translated from the German by Lucy Jones
Thanks much for this ARC, Transit Books! The dialogue that's not a dialogue between deceased Enayat al-Zayyat's gorgeous, idiosyncratic, as if compulsive sentences & Iman Mersal's almost reluctant journey of self-discovery is remarkably compelling in Robin Moger's translation.
Our anniversary edition of KINTU by Jennifer Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi comes out this June. Cover design by anna morrison 🙏
'A soaring and sublime epic. One of those great stories that was just waiting to be told.'—Marlon James
