This is the biggest fallacy of the passive investing crowd. Most active investors arenโ€™t trying to outperform. So touting beating them isnโ€™t the โ€œownโ€ many may think it is. Active and passive investors are playing two completely different games.

When I cook my own food, it feels impossible to overeat. When I eat at a restaurant, it feels impossible to NOT overeat. I wonder if investing is similar. When I do my own research, my results tend to be much better than copying others ideas.

A long-term threat to exponential growth of stock returns is a declining population from low birth rates. High Birth rates (3+) leads to Population growth leads to GdP growth leads to Stock Revenue growth Break that chain and what happens to stocks? See Japan for example
