There's been a lot of discussion about masonry in CSS recently and whether it lives in the grid spec. This post explains a different approach, that still enables the track sizing and other features from grid. developer.chrome.com/blog/masonry

FYI: GPT, AdSense and Google Analytics are already delaying activation on Prerendered pages via Speculation Rules before the page is activated.
Looking forward to hear about more 3Ps doing the same.

Since early 90s, I'm hearing that software engineers will be replaced by machines one way or the other. Since then, the demand for software engineers only exponentially increased. Builders will keep building, occasionally with newer tools.

Today in webperf DevRel land:

Why when I cheat the LCP metric, is the advice Lighthouse gives not that useful to improve it further?

Sigh...

LoAF documented on MDN!

Including browser support (which also then feeds through to Can I Use...).

It’s marked as “experimental” as per MDN policy until at least 1 other browser engine supports it, but it’s fully shipped in Chrome and ready to use to help you debug your INP issues.

Yesterday I gave a talk about font performance at Web Performance NY. Using the HTTP Archive 💾 I was able to share examples of sites that could benefit from optimizations on font files. The talk was recorded and will be shared soon, but here's the slides! slideshare.net/slideshow/font…
