Like Tyler, I think a breakup of alcohol monopolies is a bad idea. Unlike Tyler, it’s because I like alcohol.

The alcohol market is in a golden age: craft beer and spirits, cocktails, and natural wines are all booming. And higher prices from incumbent monopolists may be helping!

Really interesting: Brazil’s potential GDP growth has gone up 0.5 pp in recent years thanks to more efficient agribusiness, fintech and very low unemployment, BofA economist says. He sees 2.7% growth this year ⁦Folha de S.Paulo

Apple Intelligence is going to immediately bridge AI from early adopters to the mainstream. No need to sign up for Grammarly ChatGPT independently to experience GenAI - it's just embedded in your device.

Would not have expected only 19% of Biden supporters to say society benefits when people prioritize marriage & having kids.
A huge partisan divide on an issue that shouldn’t be partisan.
Nobody should be coerced into marriage/having kids, but saying society benefits isn’t that.

. Kyla Scanlon's book is extremely good! I've summarily cancelled a bunch of essays on various bits of the economy I had written out because she's done it much better and more fun.

I highly highly recommend it, if at all you're recommended in this economy!

I feel like *at a minimum* every news article about congestion pricing should provide some context about what % of commuters would pay the fee. Estimates are about 1.5 - 2 %.

Dairy farmers have cowed the CDC and imposed an effective veto on testing. This is outrageous and dangerous.

During the pandemic the CDC halted evictions nationwide (!!!) but now they can't get testing done even though the latter is clearly under their remit!
