Continuing #UADays24 with Katinka de Balogh, former focal point at @fao, presenting #AMR from a global #OneHealth perspective - animal health, human health & environmental sciences coming together. She brings to us the key elements for cross-sectorial collaboration
Alex Gateri from Universitetet i Oslo brings us his work in Tanzania looking at antibiotic use in animal production, which seems to be influenced by social, material and economical factors. One Health has the potential to address resistance risks. #UADays24
Finishing up the #OneHealth session with Gabriel Baldanzi and his epidemiological exploration of how antibiotic use associates with #microbiota diversity and species #abundance Even taking #antibiotics as long as 4-8years earlier (even if just 1!) has a significant effect. #UADays24
Was a pleasure to attend the #UADays24. Great discussions and just before leaving a short view of the aula of Uppsala universitet
Closing off #UADays24 with a lookout to the future: current emergent #AMR pathogens. Starting with Oliver Cornely and #fungi! What’s available, new upcoming drugs, how to manage #candidemia & changes on susceptibility patterns. We should not forget about fungal infections!
How does resistance to new drugs look like? Chaitanya Tellapragada, from Karolinska Institutet has worked with resistance to azt-avi combination in the very scary carbapenemase-producing E.coli. Mainly driven by PBP3 mutations & decreased permeability & enzymes, combined! #UADays24
We also celebrate today the half-way mark of Ottilia Andersson to her PhD on #MedicinalChemistry - optimizing a very cool way to make chemical libraries to find new #antibiotics - DNA-encodes libraries. This way one can make a very large library in a short amount of time!
Happy to be attending the SciLifeLab SciLifeLab_DataCentre #PLP retreat today and tomorrow. The laboratory preparedness started in 2021 aims to have a sustainable set of infrastructures and research community that works effectively during pandemics but also in the in-between times.
Time for posters! You can find our coordinator Eva Garmendia at lucky number 7 at the SciLifeLab #PLP retreat, talking about our multidisciplinary approach to #research & #education on #AntibioticResistance, hosted at Uppsala University Come talk to us & brainstorm the future of AMR!
Our two newly minted half-doctors Ottilia Andersson & Kinga Gulyas are having a great time in Rome these days at #EFMCISMC2024, organized by EFMC & EFMC Young Scientists Network! Keep sharing your awesome science and emphasizing how important #MedChem is to manage #AntibioticResistance!
