I can't even about the obscenity of the phrase 'posts would be deleted'. The lack of empathy is astounding, or more properly it should be, unless you are aware what British HE is like at the moment.

I’m the elected staff governor on the Birkbeck board of governors. At our last governors meeting I was the only dissenting vote and asked the VC: given his role in ruining our institution if he would take a 50% cut to his obscene £400k salary to save 5 jobs. He refused to answer.
