I am delighted to say that today colleagues from ugandamuseums & I will be at Entebbe to receive 39 important artifacts that are being returned to Uganda from Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. The objects come from all over Uganda. Among them: a drum from Bunyoro, brought to Cambridge in 1920. 1/

We are working with the Buganda kingdom to return them to the tombs from which they were taken. Below: Roscoe's 1903 photo of balongo.
These artifacts were reportedly “” acquired in the 20th Century by anthropologist John Roscoe, Among them is a headdress from Lango and a collection of balongo ,sacred 'twins'-with ritual purposes in Buganda. 📸COURTESY Eunice Tworekirwe Hon.Bahinduka Mugarra Martin ugandamuseums Ministry of Tourism-Uganda
