Preparations are ongoing for the Amashova National Classic to be held on 20 October 2024. The 132km will start outside the Nelson Mandela Capture Site in uMngeni Municipality and conclude in Durban. This week the organizing team conducted a dry run at the Mandela Capture Site.

The Reed Dance at the eNyokeni Palace in KwaNongoma is underway, the maidens from the Municipality are part of the activities. The Reed Dance celebrates 40 years and the Municipality has supported its maidens with three buses, as well as breakfast for the two days and lunch.

The uMngeni Spring Festival is currently underway. There is entertainment, various stalls, cooler boxes allowed (regret no alcohol or drinks in bottles allowed). There is a kiddies area, ample parking and free tasting of traditional beer. #MakingProgressTogether

Deputy Mayor, Sandile Mnikathi in his capacity as the Chairperson of the IPW committee handed over the road upgrade project in KwaHaza in Ward 9. The Municipality will re-gravel 1.8 km of roads which will include a culvert. The value of the project is R5.4 million.
