Here's an excellent page-turner. I've been reading it for 2 hours, and I can't put it down. It's Peter Harrison's Some New World: Myths of Supernatural Belief in a Secular Age.

This is relevant for #DECRA applicants trying to understand their "scores" in RMS👇 It's very common to get As/Bs from your Detailed Assessors but Cs/Ds/Es from the General Assessors. The thread explains why. x.com/ARC_Tracker/st…

There is a lot of good work being done today in history of philosophy, and in metaphysics that is informed by that history. Indeed, we're seeing something of a renaissance in these areas. This pair of excellent anthologies gives a taste.

I’ll be teaching an advanced Seminar (PhD candidates and up or the equivalent) on this in a few weeks. It’ll be a 3 week text seminar, reading the entire book word by word, line by line, in the original. 3 spots are open, by application, proof of German reading skill. Members

It is deeply frustrating that multiple Australian unis are seeking to end lectures across the board, regardless of the pedagogical needs of specific disciplines or units. There is a LOT to be said for the active listening skills and cognitive engagement that lectures cultivate
