CRS reached 288,701 people in #Sudan through food assistance programs in partnership with the World Food Programme and USAID's Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance, the Darfur Emergency Response Activity.

STORM ALERT: Typhoon Yagi is projected to make landfall over Vietnam on Sept. 7, bringing with it heavy rains and strong winds. Our USAID disaster experts in Washington, D.C. and those based in the region are monitoring the situation and stand ready to respond if requested.

I’m here in South Sudan to meet with our dedicated humanitarian partners and USAID staff, and to see, first-hand, our life-saving assistance as we work to reach millions of people this year. The needs here remain staggering, but we’re committed to helping the most vulnerable.

In Central Lombok, Indonesia, grasshoppers once devastated crop fields, but with USAID support, World Neighbors and local partner Berugak Dese helped the community turn this pesky problem into economic empowerment by establishing the Grasshopper Market, where sales have soared.

Members of our USAID team recently met a 90-year old grandmother in Armenia doing her best to care for her 3 orphaned grandkids. The family struggled after conflict forced them from their homes last year, but food from our partner WFP Armenia helps them meet their daily needs.

NEWS: Today, Secretary Antony Blinken announced $100 million from USAID to help conflict-affected populations in Ukraine access basic resources, like food and shelter supplies. This funding also supports United Nations and other partners providing vital health and protection assistance.

This and every 9/11, we remember the 2,977 lives lost in New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia, and we honor the first responders that bravely rushed toward the danger to help others. I continue to hold the families and the loved ones of those lost close in my heart.

NEWS: Today, the U.S. announced over $100M in emergency food assistance for food-insecure populations in South Sudan. Through Dept. of Agriculture, the funds will help provide 42,000 MT of surplus food from American farmers, and USAID will help distribute it to 1M people facing severe hunger.

NEWS: On September 7, Typhoon Yagi hit northern Vietnam, destroying homes, cropland, and critical infrastructure. In response, USAID is providing $1 million in humanitarian assistance to partners to reach affected households with shelter, WASH, and other critical assistance.

With families in the Philippines still recovering from the impacts of Typhoon Yagi, known locally as #EntengPH, USAID partner World Food Programme has been helping @dswdserves transport tens of thousands of family food packs to people affected by the storm in the country’s Bicol region.

Ambulances are vital for helping first responders in Ukraine reach people who have been impacted by the ongoing conflict. Just last week, USAID, through WHO Ukraine, provided 18 new ambulances that will help health care workers reach vulnerable Ukrainians throughout the country.
