10 minutes until a remote movie date night with a cutie from LA; somehow I still get so nervous, even at 30! Not even graduate school can stop lizard brain from working overtime.

These giant tachinid flies (Tachnia grossa) are some of my most favourite late summer flies. If you're really really gentle you can hold them and see their beautiful yellow feets. These flies lay their eggs on caterpillars such as those from the Oak Eggar moth.

When evaluating these shifts as a percentage of our expectation given warming rates, we find that species are tracking temperatures across latitude by 11%, across elevation by 17%, and across the breeding season by 28% (5/10)

So excited to see this research on range shifts and phenology shifts come out! Climate change responses are complex and multidimensional, and here Monte Neate-Clegg and I try to tackle this in a holistic way, and of course we do it for all North American birds 🤓
