#DRC : Today I met people in Bulengo IDP camp close to Goma. Their tragedy ultimately stems from a ruthless fight for resources, lack of governance & insufficient political will globally to address the root causes of the crisis. Human rights are at the core of the solution.

#DRC : Moving visit to IDP camp in Bunia. It breaks my heart to listen once again to people whose lives have been uprooted by senseless conflicts & violence driven by greed and power. To hear their stories of suffering and their fervent wish to go home.

The Rwanda genocide against the Tutsi was a clear reminder: Genocide doesn’t erupt from thin air; it follows years of normalised fear-mongering, hate & dehumanisation.

Govts must do everything in their power to combat hate, discrimination & other root causes before it's too late

Hospitals & aid workers are being attacked. People around the world are being denied universal healthcare & left alone to deal with dire physical impacts of climate change.

It couldn't be clearer: our right to health is being ignored. Govts must respect intl law. #WorldHealthDay

War is a zero sum game where everyone loses

We must remember the fundamental truth that all humans have equal dignity, rights & value. Peace rests on our ability to constructively listen, learn from & respect each other

Craving for symbols that guide us through the fog towards the light.

Polarisation, division & dehumanisation are catastrophically harming us.

No one wins when lives are lost.

I urge us all to have the difficult conversations so we can find our common ground & work towards lasting peace.

By embracing our differences, we can stop today’s vicious cycles of hate & violence.

We can rebuild the space for dialogue, tolerance & respect for each other— no matter race, gender or belief.

Slavery's history is a terrible reminder of suffering, injustice & loss; but also the story of a victorious struggle against oppression.

Our work isn't over: lingering ideologies continue to demean, dehumanise & hold people back.

We must abolish its legacy. Racism harms us all.
