Rural Ontario emerg docs, are you using the ED peer-to-peer service? I’ve called about 5 times and each time received friendly, helpful advice from someone who seems genuinely interested in helping me! Highly recommend!

One of my incredible co-residents wrote this piece- it is beautiful and heartbreaking and resonated deeply with me. It is a privilege to train with such talented physicians.

You've probably heard that Bicarbonate has to turn into CO2 to raise the pH. “Don’t give bicarb if you can’t increase ventilation.” But how much CO2 is there in an amp of sodium bicarbonate? A bicarb 🧵 1/

my pet peeve: someone dies of unclear causes, gets ROSC, rushed to CT, only gets a head CT🤬 STAT head CT is insensitive for anoxic injury & low yield overall. often the LEAST important scan if you're road tripping a post-arrest pt to the scanner please get the whole thing 🙏🙏

For most people who die from trauma incidents, like car accidents or gunshot wounds, death occurs before they make it to the hospital. That fact led a team of St. Michael’s physicians & scientists to ask: what if we brought aspects of the hospital to them?bit.ly/45T9IKV

Hey Olivia Chow and City of Toronto it's time to open up additional warming centres. It's -18 with windchill. All warming centres are full. The only option we have is to discharge patients without a place to go to the street. That's not ok. This is inhumane. Do better.

What happens when there is disagreement between an MD and a patient or substitute-decision maker (SDM) about code status? Is it ethical (or legal) for a physician to unilaterally make a patient “DNR”? Check out this short thread 🧵 and our new publication in CJA - Canadian Journal of Anesthesia below

Great article about how our team trains for a mass casualty event (Code Orange). Led by the incredible Dr. Rachel Poley Unity Health Toronto, an amazing multidisciplinary turnout so we can prepare to help serve our patients.
