There’s no money in the Dream for All program so no one is getting any loans this year. The bill they’re talking about changed language to make sure state employees couldn’t disqualify someone **solely based on their immigration status** if they meet all other loan requirements

Team Zambada win first legal tussle in getting judge to refuse transfer from Texas to New York. They prefer Texas maybe because: 1) Closer to family/network in Mexico 2) Prosecutors easier for bargain 3) NY (and Judge Cogan) has strong record vs narcos courtlistener.com/docket/1579224…

California’s legislative Black Caucus passed 9 of 14 reparations bills this month. But they also chose to pull measures that would fund cash payments and establish an agency to oversee that effort. My story for Capital & Main

BREAKING: Gov. Gavin Newsom VETOES AB 1840, which would have allowed undocumented people to apply for the state’s first-time home buyer’s assistance program. His veto message basically says lawmakers tried to expand eligibility to a program with no money.

Again just a note about Dream for ALL bill that it said a California resident wouldn’t be disqualified **solely based on their immigration status** if they meet all other eligibility and financial criteria. According to USC, undocumented immigrants paid $3.7b in taxes in 2019.
