A great article about our Skillsmatch programme and The Seven Bridges! We are so proud of this collaboration with Dance City. Thank you Mag-North for capturing what it means so perfectly! mag-north.com/posts/the-seve…

How great do our sunflowers look? This is our 'Garden of Gratitude' where our amazing supporters are sponsoring hand painted sunflowers to hang up around our garden in a display of welcome to people seeking sanctuary in Newcastle. #refugeeswelcome #newcastlecityofsanctuary

We hope last nights events in Sunderland will be the end to the violence caused by the spread of misinformation. However, now seems like a good time to share a few tips of how to stay safe in times of unrest, no matter who you are. #staysafe #refugeeswelcome

We are aware of the protests planned for tonight. We want to urge everyone to avoid the area around Westgate Road. Stay indoors where possible. You are welcome. You are wanted. Do not let the hateful shouts of the few drown out the loving voices of the majority.

The outpouring of love and support this week has been overwhelming. Newcastle has shown what a truly diverse, friendly and loving place it is. We are resharing tips today, just in case. Northumbria Police have done a fantastic job this week. Fingers crossed today is peaceful.

Yesterday at our Weekly Welcome we shared all of the messages of support we have been receiving over the past week. We enjoyed a home cooked meal, played games and made some music together as a community. #noplaceforhate #racismhasnoplacehere #refugeeswelcome

Last week the community at St Mary Magdalene Church in Mitford invited us for a visit. We had a delicious lunch, then went for a walk before enjoying a game of cricket. Thank you to the congregation in Mitford for your wonderful hosting and generous donations! #refugeeswelcome

Thank you to the Tyne Rivers Trust for taking us pond dipping and on a bird walk around Saltwell Park. We had a great day and saw some dragonfly nymphs and newt nymphs. It was a much needed day in the fresh air with some good friends! #refugeeswelcome

Participants from WERS have completed a 10 week research project, in partnership with Kielder Observatory and academic Dr Helen Mcghie. Their final photos are exhibited in Kielder Observatory. We visited last Wednesday night to take a first look, and managed to do some stargazing!

We are devastated by the news today. This is happening far too often. We need safe routes to the UK for people to claim asylum. Our thoughts are with the loved ones of those who lost their lives and all who are mourning. #RefugeesWelcome #safetyisahumanright #SafeRoutes
