NEW: A Cambridge scientist has set the James Webb telescope to gaze at a distant planet tomorrow, to investigate one of the most tantalising signs of alien life

He told me of 'sleepless nights' + 'revolutionary' implications if findings confirmed

I worked as a teacher for a month at a school run by conspiracists who believed they were battling a sinister plot against humanity. The children were taught that crystals could cure them of illnesses and that Bill Gates was going to force them to eat insects.

Here’s the story:

In my experience, even if you disagree strongly with people they are almost always sincere in their beliefs - and the bar to claiming they are being paid to believe them should be very high.

I've just submitted the following complaint to the BBC, BBC Politics and Laura Kuenssberg.

On Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg on 21st April 2024, Chris Packham, a BBC personality (ex-presenter of Springwatch, presenter of forthcoming Inside Our Minds), said the following when challenged…

I’m thinking of starting a podcast where I interview the last three people who ‘viewed me on LinkedIn’ and I ask them one question: “What on earth was going through your mind?”

Researcher says she can't find a source earlier than my book, but quite a few sources that post-date it. I'm *sure* I used excellent sources at the time. But what if I'm responsible for the birth of a fake gay penguin sex stat?

While the robot glides across the lawn indifferent to Sophocles, Sophocles considers its serene (and brazenly orange) behind to be thrillingly sexy.

My dad once threw a pint of petrol on a bonfire because our baked potatoes were 'taking too long' and he wanted to be back inside for 'The Two Ronnies', so I know how this ends. With next door's shed on fire.

Neil Oliver's GB News show was mostly about chemtrails this week. In a bizarre segment, a chemtrails 'researcher' called Caroline Coram, who claims they're used for 'weather warfare', was repeatedly mis-credited on screen as meteorology Professor Maarten Ambaum of Reading Uni. 🤦‍♂️

This recurring argument is wrong because nothing 'suddenly' happened to obesity in the 1980s. Weight increased linearly the whole time.

Because 'obesity' is an arbitrary BMI threshold, its prevalence changes non-linearly even if the underlying rate of increase is unchanging.
