The #ICE2024 conference in Japan has been so inspirational. It’s amazing to see so many elementary, jr, highschool presenters. Here’s Jo Nagai, 5th grader, by his poster on learned inheritance. He told me he next wants to do epigenetics/CRISPR on his butterflies! International Congress of Entomology 2024 Kyoto JP

The very first thing I noticed is how hard Jensen works. He has been working 14 hours a day for decades. Very few have a strong enough mindset to even step into the ring with this man.

This is insane: Depression and schizophrenia are so tied to poor gut bacteria that researchers can identify a person with depression just by analyzing their gut bacteria composition.

Happy to share our latest preprint digging into the protein-protein interactions of the sodium leak channel NALCN. We found that the neuronal SNARE proteins syntaxin 1A and SNAP25 inhibit sodium leak currents both in heterologous systems and in neurons! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Our preprint on MEMnets is out! Its key innovation lies in optimizing CVs of biomolecular dynamics by minimizing time-integrated memory kernels via parallel encoder neural networks. It is effective at identifying meaningful slow CVs and robust in training! chemrxiv.org/engage/chemrxi…

still somewhat shocked by different perspectives on the Marie Curie postdoc fellowships in a) a big lab that does not really need it, but it's 'nice to have' b) a small, fresh group where it might be a game changer

We’re excited to introduce @ChaiDiscovery and release Chai-1, a foundation model for molecular structure prediction that performs at the state-of-the-art across a variety of drug discovery tasks We're releasing inference code, weights & a web interface: chaidiscovery.com/blog/introduct…

Holy smokes it actually worked 1st time within 5 minutes of attempting to setup.....amazing engineering work. Hats off 👏 Inference on a single A100 is glacial for a single molecule lol but that's to be expected

Can anyone explain the significance of roundabout development in the UK? Why there’s so many of it? Why is it not so common in many other countries? How can we make two-three roundabouts next to each other? Or is the “roundabout” the classic English invention?
