I'm amazed I can spot bugs so easily when my eyesight is actually dreadful.

Can I read unaided? No. Can I spot a camouflaged plume moth from the corner of my eye despite walking at speed? Of course.

Also walked past a large patch of Bee Orchid rosettes on a traffic island in the middle of Middlesbrough. 25 years ago we were thrilled to see just one (1) sad and wizened plant in M'bro; now we have this!

If you are in the North, now is a good time to see where the Wych Elm trees are in a wood - they are the ones that look lime green with masses of developing seeds (which taste of uncooked pastry).

Another interesting thing I saw today were these Lime (Tilia sp.) seedlings growing in a park lawn in Richmond (N. Yorks) - usually too cold up north for ripe Lime seeds so maybe this is a sign of things to come.

Sadly, yet another compromised orchid habitat. This is a well known White Helleborine site Tesco in Winchester. Car park ‘improvements’ have seriously damaged the area, although some hardy individuals (of a species in serious decline) are pushing up through the new bark mulch 😢
