People say “well what did people do before vaccines/antibiotics/ pasteurization?” as if that’s an argument for going natural. They died. A lot of people died.

How excellent. Of course, it does mean that all the money we've spent on subsidies for the old, less good, designs has been entirely and wholly wasted. Hundreds of billions....we should have waited and installed the good stuff.

"First thing we do we kill all the lawyers". Good advice too. Tho' perhaps don't include it in a piece to be published in Iran. Could get your translator jailed for a few days. Mullahs are, well, they're law givers, see? Mohamad Machine-Chian

Betteridge's Law: "The US doesn’t dominate the Paralympics as it does the Olympics. Does it matter?" theguardian.com/sport/article/…

This is theft, pure and simple. Hope value is part of current market value. Not paying hope value in compulsory purchase is not paying market value. Theft. Yes, this was originally a Tory idea now enacted by Labour. Aren't we lucky that all flavours of politics now steal from us?

"There was nothing wrong with the model of Yugoslavia, other than it lacked democracy." Difficult one really. As soon as anyone had any chance at democracy at all the place entirely fell apart. So, perhaps, no?

The irony of regulators getting huge legal wins over Google and Apple in the EU courts the day after the release of a big study saying the EU is regulating itself out of tech innovation has not been lost on me.

Just one of those things, I've played mixed field hockey. Blimey the birds are vicious little things. Hacking of shins etc that would cause a full blown riot in an all male game are just part of the general run of play for them. Giving an angry woman a stick at close quarters...

Ah, now: John How far in the past? What about really old ales - w/out hops? Am vaguely interested (for a story) in primordial beers. Maybe weissbiers from einkorn type of 8k years old. Possibly barley from that far back too. Any guidance as to information?

One of those little things. Royal Mail is 500 years old so of course we must save it. House of Lords is 500 years old so therefore we must abolish it. Hmm. timworstall.substack.com/p/of-course-we…

Cool! "Payments towards government initiatives that help vulnerable households and reduce CO2 emissions." We get to kill some to all of Ed Miliboy's hidden taxes. Great, innit?
