We characterized the thickness + volume of short association fibers across the brain, and across the lifespan - finding unique lifespan trajectories, and strong relationships to cortical features. Lots left to explore for these fiber systems! link.springer.com/article/10.100…

I guess only companies will be able to afford to apply machine learning and AI to the UK Biobank freezing out academic labs. Maybe that’s not the intent of this policy but that will be the consequence.

Psilocybin's powerful short- and long-term effects on your brain are revealed by this intrepid precision imaging drug trial published in nature. As one of the scientists I was also a study volunteer. Spending hours in an MRI scanner, while tripping on 25 mg was the experience

Super excited by this randomized double-blinded preregistered clinical trial: A network defined by treatment response from invasive stim (DBS) → used to noninvasively modulate the brain (tDCS). This improved motor functions in PD. Thread below 👇 Center For Brain Circuit Therapeutics Michael Fox

The future of AI is neurosymbolic. #longread about Google DeepMind’s new work (cc: Demis Hassabis) that is easily the most positive and important essay I have written this year. If you care about what happens in AI after the generative AI bubble bursts, please have a look.

📢Preprint alert! ADC-#fMRI nicely complements BOLD in mapping motor pathway activation *and* recovers the functional organization of the visual dorsal & ventral streams. Will Consagra (UNC) estimates continuous connectivity (cf Daniel Moyer ‘s paper pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28487128/ ) but instead of using kernel density estimation, the product space function is learned with a deep neural net !

Do you use multi-echo sequences for estimating the T2 in a diffusion-relaxation sequence ? Well - turns out there is bias in that estimation as we show in our new paper in MRM Highlights onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/mr… — we also provide a neat solution — use of time-division

Happy science fact of the day: It's a year since the first Imaging Neuroscience paper was published, with 280 papers since then. Hence in just the first year, over half a million dollars has stayed within academia, rather than going to Elsevier [shareholders etc].
