In the Gaza-Israel protests, FIRE sure is definitively proving, as it always claimed, that despite funding by conservative foundations (e.g. Scaife, Koch) along with liberal ones (Bloomberg, Knight), they’re aggressive defenders of free speech of all kinds. Good for them.

I've seen this sentiment expressed a lot lately. Yes, some people who benefit from free speech would deny that right to others. Don't stoop to their level. In doing so, you subvert the very principle you claim to uphold and set the stage for its complete unraveling.

Just had explosive interaction w/ Columbia University’s heightened security coming onto campus. They followed me to my office & then lied, saying I didn’t scan my ID for entry (I did) & I pushed an officer (I didn’t). An ugly scene followed. They did this to me, a tenured, full professor.
