We just made an exciting discovery at Lendbreen — a leather or hide object lying on the bedrock near the pass area! It appears to have at least two different types of seams. When we turned it over, it looks like it could be a shoe, but we’ll need to open it up to be sure (1/2)

The finds just keep pouring in! We’ve just discovered a medieval horseshoe on the south side of the Lendbreen pass, not far from where we found the horse bit last year. The shape suggests it dates back to the 12th or 13th century.

What a great start to our survey at the new site today: An Iron Age arrow shaft just lying there on the glacial ice! It is around 1500 years old. This is a reindeer hunting site where we have done fieldwork before. Finds from this site so far date from Bronze Age to Medieval.

Puku has decided that the bed will not be made today, but she will come down later to inspect the new resources I’m adding to the revamped Stone Age to Iron Age workshop. #cat #CatsOfTwitter #learn
