We were honoured to recently meet the family of Leading Aircrewman Ian Marchment (pictured) who lost his life #OnThisDay March 6, 1981, with four other 820 Naval Air Squadron aircrew in a mid-air collision. A helicopter from Culdrose was called after the discovery of a possible WW2 grenade on a beach on the Isles of Scilly yesterday evening. A Merlin from #820NAS flew a Royal Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal team to St Martin's, who destroyed the object in a controlled explosion.
