Having a .50 cal HMG makes the Merlin that extra bit more versatile. For example we can:
Deliver warning shots.
Act as overwatch for boarding parties.
Destroy small craft threatening the TG.

Whatever the job, it's not very pleasant to be on the receiving end.

Controlling the underwater environment is vital to the success of our mission.

The #SteadfastDefender24 Carrier Strike Group has been exercising with a Marine nationale submarine, testing responses to underwater threats & our ability to protect HMS Prince of Wales no matter the adversary.

A pleasure to host Rear Admiral David Patchell onboard HMS Prince of Wales.

As Commander of NATO Combined Task Force (North) and Deputy Commander of U.S. 2nd Fleet, the Carrier Strike Group have been working closely with his team for #SteadfastDefender24 .

The next maritime phase of #SteadfastDefender24 begins.

Our OC 617 Squadron F-35B jets are now exercising in the Arctic skies over Norway, launching from HMS Prince of Wales on the coast to simulate defending the territory of our allies inland.

Whilst continuing with NATO exercises in the High North, our ships were treated to some incredible displays of the aurora borealis.
