AFSOC was on full display during the #SOFWeek2024 CAPEX in Tampa, FL last week, complete with #AC130J , #MC130J , #CombatControllers , and integration with 11 nations and all of USSOCOM!

This past weekend was the anniversary of the mission in which Lt. Col. Joe M. Jackson rescued a three-man Combat Control Team under heavy enemy fire on May 12, 1968.
For his extraordinary heroism, Jackson earned The Congressional #MedalOfHonor .

Last Friday, the 492d Special Operations Training Group was officially redesignated as the Air Commando Development Center and is no longer in provisional status. It was reassigned from the 492d Special Operations Wing to Headquarters AFSOC. #AFSOC #492SOW

#Shoutout to A1C Rossel-Joyce Garcia, Hurlburt Field Honor Guardsman. Her #CallToService was the exemplary character of family members who served.

'Start finding me, boys'

Four words, spoken into the radios by then-Lt. Col. Dave Goldfein #OTD in 1999.
These words ignited the highly effective rescue mission in search of HAMMER 34 in which our Air Commandos were integral in Goldfein's safe return. U.S. Air Force

#OTD in 1980, Operation EAGLE CLAW, though deemed a failure, led to the establishment of the USSOCOM and its USAF component, #AFSOC . EAGLE CLAW highlighted the necessity of joint planning and training which still holds true today.

#OTD in 1942, Lt. Dick Cole, copiloted the 1st B-25 to fly off the USS Hornet during WWII with the Doolittle Raiders. He later flew with the 1st ACG, supporting groups in Burma. Cole embodied the Air Commando mindset... biased toward action & always ready when our Nation calls.

#OTD in 2017, Staff Sgt. Alaxey Germanovich, an ST combat controller, was awarded the Air Force Cross for his actions during an enemy ambush in Nangahar Province, Afghanistan supporting Operation FREEDOM’s SENTINEL.

On this day in 1992, the first flight of the first production #AC130U gunship occurred for a total flight time of .9 hours.
Over its 29 years of service, “Spooky” set the record for the highest altitude flown by an AC-130U during initial testing at 31,000 feet. #AFSOC

He now serves as a religious affairs Airman, improving the wellness of our Air Commando force.
