9/17/99 – The Phoenix #Mustangs acquired star C Kevin St. Jacques (28) from the San Diego Gulls for future considerations. The Gulls won the WCHL Championship in each of his three seasons there (1996-99) and would help lead Phoenix to their only title that season as well.

9/17/83 – 2nd-ranked Florence (3-0) beat Gila Bend (1-2) 74-0 behind senior running back Bruce Reed's ran for 320yds and 6TDs (including TD runs of 88, 86, and 69yds), and also ran the opening kickoff 85yds for the game's first points. In his first three games: 736yds and 11TDs.

9/17/17 – After suffering through a season with one of the worst defenses in the #NHL , the Arizona Coyotes looked to improve by acquiring 29-yr-old D Jason Demers from the Florida Panthers for 28-year-old F Jamie McGinn. McGinn had finished w/9G/8A in 72 games in 2016-17. #Yotes

9/17/02 – On the same day that Patrick Ewing retired, the Phoenix #Suns traded PG Milt Palacio to the Cleveland Cavaliers for a '08 2nd Rd pick (Malik Hairston). In 28 games, Milt avg’d 2.8p, 1.0a. The deal saved $750,000, lessening PHX’s bloated luxury tax bill.
